Structural physics

The importance of structural physics has increased considerably in recent decades: increased efforts regarding the heat insulation of buildings – from the 1970s, initially out of economic considerations, but today out of ecological ones as well – lead to a greater involvement of structural physics deliberations in building planning.
Added to this is a growing need for comfort, which is reflected in the increased requirements for sound insulation in apartments and buildings – also a key area of structural physics. Structural physics and considerations related to this field are already channelled into structural design and architecture during the design stage these days.
